Baseball Season Around the Corner

The baseball season is around the corner, and I'm pretty excited. Baseball has to be my second favourite sport next to football. Theres nothing like a nice baseball or football game outdoors in sunny weather. People find baseball boring on television, but it's a whole different ball game when you are watching it live at the ball park. I love the 2 hour trips in the summer to watch the Seattle Mariners play.

The Mariners have a solid team this year. They picked up Erik Bedard, who is one of the best pitchers in the MLB. The Mariners also have Felix Hernandez, Miguel Batista, Carlos Silva, Jarod Washburn and one of the best closers in baseball J.J. Putz. This gives them a great pitching lineup.

I have high hopes for the Seattle Mariners and I strongly believe they will win their division, which is the AL West. They should make the postseason and they could possibly go for a long run in the postseason.

Mayweather competing in WWE

Floyd Mayweather Jr. is known as the best pound for pound boxer in the world today. Nobody has ever been able to beat Mayweather in the boxing ring since he started boxing in 1996. He is one of the most cockiest fighters in boxing today.

Recently the WWE has given the 147 lb Mayweather 20 million dollars to wrestle a 450 lb giant named The Big show at Wrestlemania.

I know wrestling is fake, but Mayweather is a boxer not a wrestler. His real punches will be useless in a fake wrestling match. However, I'm sure the WWE has Mayweather as the winner in this wrestling match, because its entertainment. If the WWE offered me 20 million for a fake wrestling match, I would do it too. I'm sure anyone would take this offer.

Golfer Kills Hawk

I'm not a golf fan, neither do I play golf. I actually find it one of the most boring sports besides curling. However, I do know that Tiger Woods is one of the most popular golfers of all time. Well Tiger Woods wasn't the most popular golfer last week. A golfer by the name of Tripp Isenhour stole the spotlight.

Tripp Isenhour was taping a tv show and a hawk started to distract him. What did Tripp Isenhour do? He started to fire golf balls at the bird. The hawk then moved closer, and Isenhour said, "I'll get him now." Isenhour fired and he hit and killed the bird. Now Isenhour may be going to jail or doing some community service. Isenhour later apologized and said that he was only trying to scare the bird. How are you trying to scare the bird when you clearly said, "I'll get him now."Isenhour needs a lesson from Michael Vick. Do not hurt animals, or you will pay the price.

Back to the Future

The Colorado Avalanche brought back Peter Forsberg and Adam Foote, returning their team to the way it was in 2001. It was reported that Peter Forsberg wouldn't return to the NHL this season because of a foot injury, but these were all just rumours.

Signing Peter Forsberg will help the Avalanche get closer to the Stanley Cup. Although some people may think of this as a huge risk, because of Forsberg's previous injuries. I believe it is worth the risk. There aren't many players as good as Peter Forsberg.

Adam Foote has been known as the Canucks killer in the past. He used to be one of the players the Canucks didn't like to play.

I believe that this Peter Forsberg and Adam Foote will help the Avalanche get to the Stanley Cup. The only piece of the puzzle their missing is Patrick Roy and Ray Bourque. They would be unstoppable if those two were still on the team. I like this move and hopefully it eliminates the Vancouver Canucks out of the playoffs.

NHL trade deadline

The NHL trade deadline is approaching and teams that need help in the playoffs will be very busy. The deadline is on Feb, 26th, 2008 and there are a number of big names out there. However, Mats Sundin will not be a player getting traded. He has decided to stay in Toronto and not waive his no-trade clause. Sundin's name was in the center of all trade rumors a month ago.

The big names that are rumored to be traded are: Patrick Marleau, Marion Hossa, Brad Richards and many others. This seems like a very tough and intense trade deadline. Hopefully it turns out like the NBA trade deadline, which included many blockbuster deals.

Canucks fans, don't get your hopes so high hearing those rumors. I expect the Canucks to do nothing or they may decide to pick up a useless player for draft picks. Even if the Canucks don't do anything, the trade deadline will be very intense.

The Canucks

How can I have a sports blog in Vancouver without talking about the beloved Canucks. Well here is the first and hopefully the last post about the Vancouver Canucks.

Unlike everybody in Vancouver, I hate the Canucks. Every year I hope they don't make the playoffs or are eliminated very quickly. They usually make the playoffs and are eliminated in the first or second round.

The reason I don't like the Canucks is that I'm so sick and tired of hearing about this team over and over again. I even hear about the Canucks all day when the NHL season is over. I find it pretty boring and not entertaining. I especially hate it when people tell me that the Canucks are going to win the Stanley Cup. I've been hearing that for about 5-10 years now and it hasn't happened yet. It probably won't happen anytime soon either. The team seems to be very inconsistent and needs improvement. However, the GM of the Canucks hasn't really made any good moves after firing Brian Burke. He has only made one good move since he's been here and that was when he brought in Roberto Luongo.

I haven't heard anybody tell me that this is the Canucks' year yet. I think I just stopped paying attention or maybe the Canucks fans are starting to give up on their team. I hope they don't make the playoffs and a rival wins the Stanley Cup. That should drive Canucks fans crazy.

Shaquille O'Neal to the Phoenix Suns

On Wednesday, February 6th, 2008, the Miami Heat traded Shaquille O'Neal to the Phoenix Suns for Shawn Marion and Marcus Banks. This was probably the most unexpected trade in the sports world. Two years ago Shaquille O'Neal helped the Miami Heat win the NBA championship. However, Shaquille O'Neal was not the same player he was two years ago. O'Neal seemed very lazy and not motivated to play anymore. Therefore the Heat traded O'Neal to the Suns.

The Suns believe O'Neal is the missing piece in the puzzle and that he will help the Suns win a NBA championship. Others believe O'Neal will not help the team at all and will destroy the chemistry the Suns.

I disagree with the people that say O'Neal will destroy the team. Shaquille O'Neal is the most dominant center to ever play in the NBA. He may be getting older, but he can still help a team win, especially when you have a player like Steve Nash, who makes everyone around him better. O'Neal also makes everyone around him better because he draws double coverage, leaving other players open. I believe that O'Neal will help the Phoenix Suns get to the NBA finals this season and possibly even win the championship this year.

Randy Moss

Randy Moss is coming off a Super Bowl loss in which his team was favoured to win. Randy Moss is a player that doesn't take losing very well. In the past when Randy Moss was on a losing team, he would just give up.

Randy Moss started his career in 1998 with the Minnesota Vikings. All was well as the Vikings were at the top of the NFL with a very explosive offence. When 2004 rolled around the team started to age, and the Vikings were starting to lose more often. The season ended with Randy Moss giving up on the Vikings. He walked out during the last 5 minutes, while his team was still playing. Randy Moss hit the bottom, and ended the season off with 767 yards, which is almost 900 yards less then the previous season. Randy Moss even told the media that he plays when he wants to play, which was completely ridiculous. The Vikings decided to trade him, and the Oakland Raiders decided to gamble on him.

Randy Moss started the 2005 season with the Oakland Raiders and he had decent statistics, but nothing phenomenol. In 2006, Randy Moss completely gave up on the Raiders and ended the season with a career low, 550 yards receiving. The Oakland Raiders decided to trade Randy Moss to the New England Patriots, because he wouldn't put any effort into it.

Randy Moss was traded to a team that always wins and has 3 Super Bowls in the last 7 years. He started every game for the New England Patriots in the 2007 season. He ended the season with a career best 23 touchdowns. All of a sudden Randy Moss was good again because his team was good. He wanted to put effort into it.

I believe Randy Moss is a sore loser. He gave up on his teams when they were losing and he didn't want to play at all. He started to try all of a sudden because the New England Patriots are one of the best teams in the NFL. A player like this shouldn't even be traded to play on a classy organization like the New England Patriots. The Oakland Raiders should have traded Randy Moss to a team like the New York Jets. Hopefully a good team doesn't sign Randy Moss for next season.

Can the New York Giants beat the New England Patriots?

The stage for Super Bowl 42 has been set. The New York Giants are going to play the undefeated New England Patriots on Feb, 3rd, 2008. The New York Giants are coming off 10 straight road victories, which include the regular season. Also, the New England Patriots are coming off an undefeated regular season. These teams played in week 17, which was the last week of the regular season. The Giants put up a good fight, but ended up losing 38-35. This game gave the Patriots a perfect 16-0 season. The first perfect season since the 1972 Miami Dolphins.

The question everyone has been asking is, if the Giants can beat the Patriots? Personally, I believe the Giants have no chance. The Giants players don't match up against the Patriots. The Patriots are way too talented. They have a great defence, great offensive line and the best Quarterback in the league. The Patriots play in a tougher conference than the Giants and the Patriots have a lot more playoff experience then the Giants. After winning this Super Bowl, the Patriots will have 4 Championships in 7 years. This New England Patriots team is the definition of a dynasty.

Terrell Owens

Terrell Owens and the Dallas Cowboys were eliminated by the New York Giants in the NFC divisional game last week. After the game, I was expecting Terrell Owens to freak out and demand a trade. Instead, he came out and defended his teammates along with his quarterback Tony Romo. He even started crying. I'm not sure if he was faking it or he actually cared about his teammates.

This was a complete shocker to me, because Terrell Owens has been known to blame his teammates and point the finger at them. Before getting sent off to the Dallas Cowboys in 2006, Owens used to play on the Philadelphia Eagles. A team which he played a major role on getting to the Superbowl in 2005. Terrell Owens and the Philadelphia Eagles lost, and Terrell Owens blamed the whole loss on his teammate and quarterback Donovan McNabb. The next season, Owens had problems with his teammates and a problem with Donovan McNabb. He was released after being suspended by the Philadelphia Eagles for the season, and signed by the Dallas Cowboys in time for the 2006 season.

I believe Terrell Owens has learned his lesson. If the Philadelphia Eagles didn't suspend Terrell Owens for the 2005 season, he would still be a bad teammate. It seems like Terrell Owens finally understands that no one man team will be successful. I personally don't like Terrell Owens, but I believe that this is the best sports interview of 2008 so far.
